Oral surgery & wisdom-tooth assessment
Make an informed decision before removing a tooth.
Understand the option
A wisdom tooth is not automatically a tooth that needs removal. Position, symptoms and disease matter. An examination and, when needed, X-rays help guide the decision to monitor, treat or remove it.
What to discuss before treatment
Discuss the proposed procedure, anaesthesia and recovery. Possible complications include infection, dry socket and nerve-related symptoms. The clinician should explain the risks relevant to the tooth’s position and your health.
Questions worth asking
Why is removal recommended? Can it be monitored? What are the individual risks? What help and follow-up will I need during recovery?
